Malaysia’s Public Holidays for 2023
Malaysia’s multicultural population acknowledges a number of key holidays from a number of cultures. This includes Christmas Day, Deepavali, and the Islamic New Year.
Public holidays in Malaysia that fall on a weekend are replaced with a day off the following Monday. As a result, most Malaysians will be privy to seven long weekends in 2023.
It’s also worth noting that in the states of Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis, and Terengganu the working week is Sunday to Thursday with Friday and Saturday observed as weekends.
There are a total of 13 official federal public holidays in Malaysia though they are not universally applied. This list contains the events, dates, and states that Malaysia’s public holidays in 2023 apply to.
